Traditional Serer Mass — Mar Lodj

Mar Lodj is an island in the Sine Saloum, inhabited by the Serer — one of Senegal's oldest peoples. On certain days there is a traditional mass: singing, dancing, colorful robes, rituals passed down for centuries. You may attend as a guest, provided you conduct yourself with respect. Not every day — the lodge will inform you of the schedule. If it aligns with your stay: go.
